Intan Jaya About 1,000 residents from four villages in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua, took refuge in the Pastoral Complex of St. Mikael Bilogai Catholic Church. They were displaced for fear of becoming victims of an armed conflict between security forces and armed criminal groups (KKB). Responding to this, the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) admitted that until now they had difficulty getting refugee data because communication was cut off. “For the problem of social disasters in Intan Jaya, since November 2020 we have had communication with the local government there. We’ve asked them to write so that it becomes the basis for us to act. Indeed, we cannot go there because of limited flights,” said the Head of Social Service of Papua Province, Rebekah Haluk, in Jayapura, Wednesday (17/2/2021).
